Hacienda Zotoluca

The first record of construction dates back to 1570, by order of Viceroy Don Luis de Velazco y Ruiz Alarcon.
Upon his death, he inherited it to his son, also Viceroy of New Spain, Don Luis de Velazco y Castilla, who bequeathed the Hacienda to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City, who used it for more than 150 years.
When Benito Juarez assumed the presidency, he carried out the secularization of the clergy, expropriated church properties and thus Hacienda Zotoluca became private property again.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's is when Hacienda Zotoluca has a wonderful architectural intervention of the iconic architect Antonio Rivas Mercado, among his most important works is the Monument to Independence on Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City.
In the 1910 revolution, the Haciendas were brutally attacked, invaded, destroyed and looted.
It remained that way until 2015, when the Hacienda was acquired by Julio Uribe Curn. The restoration project took about 5 years. In 2019 it wins the "Icons of Design" award granted by Architectural Digest Mexico magazine. In 2023 begins exclusive commercial relationship with the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City with whom currently the exchange of tourist services and experiences offered by the Hacienda is carried out.
